One way is to bike to work! While many people have embraced this lifestyle, there are still many who have always wanted to, but have been challenged by the pesky logistics.
Biking to work requires you to be more intentional about your day as you will have to change the way you pack and prepare. Here are some common obstacles:
- If I want to stop at the gym on the way, I don’t want to carry sweaty clothes around with me.
- I don’t like being all hot and sweaty when I get to the office.
- I have to stop by the grocery store for a few items, but don’t have any more room in my bag.
- How do I carry everything to get through my day at work? How do I keep it dry?
- If I have to charge my iPhone or USB device on-the-go, I can’t without my car.
These are all good excuses, and we are sure there are more. Whatever your excuse might be, we want to help you eliminate them and get going to a healthier you, and healthier environment!
In 2011, we are going to focus more of our attention on finding solutions for your bike-to-work needs. We are very pleased to bring you our first offering of products that make biking to work easier. Even if you don’t bike to work, we are sure you will achieve a new level of on-the-go style, performance and utility with this collection of bags and accessories.
PS – Here is a blog post on my inspiration to Bike to Work. If you have one to share, please feel free to e-mail it to me. We would love to feature your story.

When I lived in Morioka, Japan in 1991 while in college, the primary means of transportation I used was the bike. It was awesome riding to class and seeing Mt. Iwate in the distance, which I eventually climbed (on foot of course). There was something exhilarating being on a bike no matter what the weather was outside. I used to ride through crazy monsoon downpours and the cold, as well as in super hot and humid weather. I really enjoyed it as I could challenge myself at any moment and get a nice workout in or just blissfully glide through a glorious fall day; I did not know how much I missed it.
After graduating from college I had the opportunity to live in the Bay Area, where I was introduced to Mountain Biking. I bought a basic Gary Fisher mountain bike and biked a some mountain or headland every other weekend. It was amazing!
When I moved back to Cleveland, OH, biking faded as distant memory of something I used to do. Why, I don’t know. Perhaps one simply reverts back to old ways of being and doing when they return to their roots.
The other day I went to buy two new tires for my daughters bike, and could not help but checkout some of the bikes. It is impressive how far bike technology has advanced and I found myself trying a few bikes. It really got me thinking and 24 hours later, I bought a Specialized Sirrus to ride to and from the office.
It was 45 F in the morning and much of the 8 mile journey to work was downhill. Needless to say, it was a challenge and I was soaked in sweat when I arrived. I simply cannot go slow and could not help pushing myself. It warmed up to 53 F for the ride home, which was equally challenging and fully enjoyable.
I needed a change from the normal routine and am delighted to get back into biking. It’s good for the body, Earth and soul; it’s good to untehter from convention!
PS – Foot Soldier AI made the commute easy. I sweat more than the normal person and did not want to bring a change of clothing. No stink and AI dried really fast!

We love most everything slim and know that old habits die hard. Maintaining a slim wallet is both a triumph and a challenge. Once you claim victory over your big fat wallet, not only will you be able to store it safely in your front pocket, you also make room for other important life essentials. There are a lot of great posts out there on how to hack your way down to a super-slim wallet, so we won’t rehash it here.
Now that you have some ideas on getting down to your pocket bare essentials, you can reap the benefits of having a little extra room for other important stuff. While we live in a smart phone world, where we store more and more of life (pictures, music, notes, etc.), it’s still faster to simply write things down on paper that you don’t want to forget.
On-the-go business cards make for a great place to take notes. Unfortunately, we accidentally give them away, (along with our genius thought) or simply misplace them.
Many people also think they will be able to simply recall something they want to remember, only to realize that they wish they had written it down. Let’s face it, life is complicated and trying to hold all that stuff in your head is just another form of clutter that eats away at your creative psyche.
If a man can fit something he needs in his front pocket, he will. The Moleskine Volant extra small is fabulously designed thin and stacks very nicely on top of a Slimmy. With a perfect number of pages (56) there is plenty of room to jot down important ideas and notes for recall. The pages are even perforated so you can rip them out to slim things down even further.
Made to flex, the Moleskine Volant XS stores comfortably and conforms nicely to your pocket. Over time, you will notice some bending on the edges and other wear, but nothing more than general Moleskine wear-and-tear.
Never forget another idea and keep it safely in your front pocket: Moleskine + Slimmy.

Foot Soldier Adapt and Improvise Performance T-Shirts
We are very excited to bring you two new products for work, play and travel.
Both are designed for the hybrid lifestyles more and more of us lead that require products that unify style and functionality. The first product is a new brand of uncomplicated t-shirts called Foot Soldier AI (Adapt and Improvise). Go anywhere and do anything with one shirt. These moisture wicking, odor free t-shirts are made from the best performance material we could find. X-Static is an ingenious material that fuses a nano layer of silver to the fibers, which acts as a natural, non-toxic anti-microbial agent that prevents these shirts from getting “stinky,” even under the most rigorous of conditions. In addition, Foot Soldier AI incorporates a “smart cut” that provides for the best fit possible. On your next week long trip take the challenge: you will only need to pack two t-shirts for all around use. Do more with less and save 17% by using coupon code AI2009.
The second product we are introducing is SportSlimmy ID. It’s the same great design as the regular SportSlimmy, but also has a clever window for your ID. Whether you are at the gym, in the office or on the road, you have an instant access to your ID and money. Made for times when you don’t have any front pockets or just can’t stand packing them full of stuff. Get 30% off until October 10th.
